I have finally made the switch from New York plates to utah plates. Ny requires a registration and safety sticker on the inside of the windshield. I wasn't given or told anything about that here just handed plates and some paperwork. I'm assuming they aren't a thing here. Can anyone confirm?

welcome to the free world (as in the western US)

Only a small number of (bizarre) states require a windshield validation, New York being one of them. Utah does not. Your plates are instead validated with a decal on the rear license plate, and I suspect there is no state safety inspection.

I had a safety inspection for mine in summit county but it was just to check all lights, windshield wipers, horn, and tint. Careless turbo back ftw!

New York helped win your independence and started the population of your area
You're welcome.

Sad that you had to leave the wonderful NY. Hope you enjoy the west. Once a New Yorker always a New Yorker!

according to this, http://dmv.utah.gov/vehicles-servi… utah doesn require safety inspections. and some counties require emissions checks, their friendly neighbors to the north (Idaho) require no safety inspections, but 2 counties (which ironically compose 1/3 of the states population) require emmisions checks.
Good to see you Doug, and greeting from Idaho.

I enjoyed it but the locals hills south of Rochester weren't doing it for me. I need mountains and free awesome wilderness to climb and camp around in.

true, but, we has more room out west, cheaper electricity, more expensive gasoline, and cheaper taxes (california doesn't count).

So the Adirondacks weren't enough? I'm a native New Yorker so I just adore the places here.

more expensive gas is a plus?
I loved my trip out west. As a New Yorker I'm just messing with you.

Dacks were a good trip away. More ski resorts than the dacks that are more expansive. I'm glad I moved out here.

As long as you're enjoying Utah. They're like 2-3 hours from me but our back roads make trips enjoyable. I love NY so much.

no its not, but it is true, I live in idaho, which has like the 7th most expensive gas in the nation, and states with more expensive gas include california, washington, oregon, and hawaii, and alaska, which are all out west.
Just so you know, gas only reached under 3 dollars a gallon like 2 days ago.

You've probably had your question answered by now, but you just get plate stickers.

NY just went under $3/gal this week too. we have the most expensive gas on the Eastern Seaboard. I think we even have the highest tax on gas in the country.

Idaho is the opposite, if the gas tax was equal, new york would have gas that is 25 c cheaper than idaho because while new yorks state gas tax is 50 cents a gallon, in idaho, its only 25 cents. Thats why Oregon and Washington have more expensive gas, because their fuel tax is higher. I live right on the border of Washington, and gas is always about 10 cents cheaper in Idaho where I live, than over next door in Washington because of less expensive gas tax.

Yeah, when I was in Montana last year I was surprised at how much cheaper gas, particularly diesel, was than it was here in NY. Granted diesel was well over $4 in NY at the time. It was cheaper than premium out there and that was the surprising thing to me.

My mom kept her VA window stickers on her black Civic, so she can differentiate it from all the other black Civics. I discovered this when I offered to remove it for her.
